The world of life sciences, especially research and development, is fluid and exploratory by nature. Experiments and workflows change all the time—and that typically doesn’t play well with automation systems, which require some rigidity to run at scale. In this talk, we review various tips we’ve developed over time to use automation in tandem with R&D by embracing the uncertainty and using “unfinished” systems to run “unfinished” science.
