At Biosero, we’re always listening to the scientists and automation engineers who use our software every day. As your labs evolve—becoming more connected, more data-driven, and more expansive—so too must the tools you rely on. Today, we’re excited to unveil a significant evolution in how we deliver and communicate Green Button Go product updates: Green Button Go Galaxy.
Why a Unified Naming Convention?
Historically, we’ve versioned Green Button Go Scheduler and Green Button Go Orchestrator as separate entities. Each had its own update cadence, release notes, and compatibility considerations. That made sense when they operated independently—but your labs are no longer siloed, and neither is your software.
With our upcoming release, the relationship between GBG Scheduler and GBG Orchestrator is changing in a big way. Green Button Go Scheduler will now download with a component of Green Button Go Orchestrator—called Data Services Lite—built right into the installer.
This isn’t just a packaging change. It’s a foundational step toward something bigger.
Meet Data Services Lite: API Connectivity for All
For the first time, Green Button Go Scheduler will come API-capable out of the box. Thanks to Data Services Lite, any GBG Scheduler installation can now communicate through a secure, extensible API layer.
What does this mean for your lab?
- Connectivity without complexity – Plug GBG Scheduler into your LIMS, ELN, or other digital systems with far less effort.
- Scalable automation – Start small, and upgrade as your lab grows—without rearchitecting your installation.
- A future-proof foundation – Build interoperable workflows now, and expand capabilities later with a simple upgrade to the full GBG Orchestrator suite.
Data Services Lite provides the gateway. Green Button Go Orchestrator unlocks the full potential when you’re ready.
One Name. One Universe. Full Compatibility.
This tighter integration between GBG Scheduler and GBG Orchestrator means that compatibility is now essential. To ensure a seamless experience, versions of GBG Scheduler and GBG Orchestrator are matched and validated as a pair.
That’s where our new naming strategy comes in.
We’re introducing a new release identity for every major update across the Green Button Go ecosystem. These unified releases will now be known by a single name, starting with:
Green Button Go Galaxy
Galaxy is more than a label—it’s a signal. When you see a Green Button Go Galaxy release, you’ll know:
- Every included component—GBG Scheduler, GBG Orchestrator, and beyond—is tested to work together.
- Your lab is on a version that’s fully supported, interoperable, and up to date.
- You can reference a single name, rather than digging through multiple software build numbers, to check compatibility or communicate across teams.
What’s Next?
Green Button Go Galaxy is just the beginning. Future releases will follow the same unified naming structure, each bringing new features, capabilities, and integrations that make it easier to automate your science and orchestrate your data.
Whether you’re just getting started with lab automation or already running complex, multi-instrument workflows, this new model ensures that your software is ready to grow with you.
Ready to Launch?
If you’re an existing customer, you’ll start seeing Galaxy reflected in our documentation, support materials, and software installers. New customers will benefit from a streamlined onboarding experience and a clearer understanding of what’s under the hood.
We’re thrilled to launch this new era of Green Button Go—and we can’t wait to see what you build with it.
